Description
The Thermal Fusion is Aqua Lung’s highest performance diving undergarment, maximizing warmth while providing unrivaled flexibility and fit.
Our patented Thermal Core Technology, a dual layer design, offers the diver with an unlimited range of motion while maintaining a streamlined fit. The inner layer, a relaxed cut thermal core constructed ofÂ
Polartec® 200 fleece, delivers superior warmth. The outer layer, a Polartec® Power Stretch Pro® fleece, applies compression which streamlines the inner core to the divers body. TheÂ
result is a custom fit with maximum range of motion. The superior insulation value of the Thermal Fusion has been validated in independent laboratory tests by the Sport Innovation Center (SPIN).
SPIN collaborates with Olympic and Paralympic athletes and is a breakthrough leader in sport technology. They performed cold water immersion and controlled cold weather environmental tests toÂ
determine the effectiveness of dive garments in protecting skin and core temperatures. Comparative testing against our competitor’s top rated undergarment confirms the Thermal FusionÂ
superiority. The science proves that the Thermal Fusion performed best overall in preventing heat loss in
extreme environments!

Reviews
I've been able to dive it twice so far, and the experience has been great. I don't have anything really to compare to (other than diving wet) but I'm glad I made the change. In 43°F water I'm warm. This plus the Mk3 socks and the only places I feel cold are my hands (wet gloves) and face.
Gearing up, I've been lucky so far that surface temps have been mild (high 60's) but despite my natural tendency to sweat, the fabric does an awesome job of wicking away moisture form my skin.
On my first dive I managed to have a small flood due to a loose inflator valve. I noticed that the water was there, but didn't feel "wet". I ended the dive shortly after that anyway, but didn't feel like I was in any danger due to water intrusion. I actually had to her it bubbling when I added air to confirm that I in fact had water in the suit. After the flood, a quick trip thru the dryer and they were ready to go again the next day.
Fit wise, I have pretty large calves (19" diameter) and that's the only place I can feel them tight (4x sized garment). Rest fits like a dream. In my case, vs diving dry I had to add a bunch of lead. I'm sure I'll lose some of that as I get more accustomed to the suit, but right now I'm adding 28lbs over what I use when diving a 5mm wetsuit.
Now I just need to figure out what to go to when the water warms up :)
It's also too thick to fit inside the wrist rings for my replaceable seals, so to get my wrist seals in place I have to unhook the thumb loop, and push the sleeves up to my forearms with the rings. not a big deal, but it's annoying to keep needing all the yanking and tugging. It usually leaves me dripping with sweat when it's warm out.
Other than that, it's been good. I don't need any more lead with it than I needed with my wet suit, and it keeps me plenty warm in Pac NW waters.
