Description

The Thermal Fusion is Aqua Lung’s highest performance diving undergarment, maximizing warmth while providing unrivaled flexibility and fit.
Our patented Thermal Core Technology, a dual layer design, offers the diver with an unlimited range of motion while maintaining a streamlined fit. The inner layer, a relaxed cut thermal core constructed of
Polartec® 200 fleece, delivers superior warmth. The outer layer, a Polartec® Power Stretch Pro® fleece, applies compression which streamlines the inner core to the divers body. The
result is a custom fit with maximum range of motion. The superior insulation value of the Thermal Fusion has been validated in independent laboratory tests by the Sport Innovation Center (SPIN).
SPIN collaborates with Olympic and Paralympic athletes and is a breakthrough leader in sport technology. They performed cold water immersion and controlled cold weather environmental tests to
determine the effectiveness of dive garments in protecting skin and core temperatures. Comparative testing against our competitor’s top rated undergarment confirms the Thermal Fusion
superiority. The science proves that the Thermal Fusion performed best overall in preventing heat loss in
extreme environments!

I own two of these and alternate drysuits daily as I use them as a commercial diver.

Best undergarment on the market accept the cheap zippers. Other issue is after you put it in the dryer good luck getting it back into form.

Warm, but..
Review by
I got this with my fusion tec drysuit and it is extremely warm. I have done hour long dives in 40 degree water with no issues. With the bulk does comes a restriction in movement which I am not sure if it is due to my drysuit, or the thick undies but it isn't there when I wear other thinner undies. Still I would recommend these to anyone.

Good match for the Fusion drysuit

I purchased this undergarment to use with my Fusion Bullet dry suit in the Pacific Northwest. The materials and design seem to make the undergarment warmer and more flexible than the cheaper alternatives. The tradeoff is that it can take a little more time to put it on, particularly when the inner fleece layer gets twisted or bunched up.

Prior to getting into the water I'm a little too warm in this undergarment. Because of this, I wear a wool base layer underneath to help wick moisture away from my skin and stay just a bit warmer underwater. I stay warm enough on multi-dive days, but I am feeling a little cool towards the end. For me, I think anything thicker than this would make gearing up unbearably hot and I'd have to haul around more lead on top of that. As it is, I wear about the same amount of lead as I did with a 7mm John & Jacket wetsuit.

Overall, I like this undergarment, and I think its a good match for the Fusion dry suit.

Best way to stay warm!

I borrowed a friend's Fusion Thermal suit and stayed warm thru the entire. I dive a lot of cold quarries and waters so I opted to get my own! Bring on the cold water.

warm and cozy

I wear this with my Fusion tec drysuit and what a great combination. Very well balanced in water however you would need more weight due to it's thickness. With thickness comes great warmth in cold 40° below water with t
hin sport tee shirt and under pants. My body has never felt cold on long hour plus dives. Also I have never felt sweaty or uncomfortable. Overall this thermal is great at keeping you warm and wicking away moisture keeping you cozy.

Warm!

As a Canadian, I have the unfortunate pleasure of diving in sub 40 degree water - all summer long. It used to suck - now it doesn't. Why? My thermal fusions are awesome!

The only con to these is that they can be a pain to get on sometimes because the legs bunch up and trap your feet. But it's a small price to pay for the flexibility and warmth provided and it would not stop me from recommending them.

For comparison, I've dived the Whites Mk2 undergarments as well and they're not nearly as warm, nor do they fit as well as the thermal fusions.

Sizing: I'm 6'-1" and weigh 185lbs, LG/XL fits perfect.

Warm and flexible
Review by
The flexibility of the Thermal Fusion is great when compared all other cold-water undergarments I tried. I use it in 50F water with only a thermal T-Shirt underneath and I am not cold after a 1h dive. For longer times or colder temps you might want to add an extra layer, like 4th Element's Drybase or Xerotherms. I am 5'10, 140lb and the S/M size fits me great. Getting the material around the calves to not bunch up requires a bit of fiddling, but nothing major. I recommend using long thermal socks with it (like the Arctic socks) since the legs have only a single layer of fleece in the lower section.

I purchased the thermal fusion purely because I own a Whites dry suite. Wore it for the first time and it works - kept me nice and warm.

I bought the Thermal fusion to replace my Arctic two piece undergarment and I definitely noticed much more shoulder flexibility as I could now reach my shoulder dump valve much easier. I am diving in 45-55 degree water temperatures and I feel pretty comfortable with a extra layer of Hot Chili's underneath. I am sweating up a storm before I get in the water but the perspiration is wicked away from the body so I have never felt damp or cold. I have not had any trouble donning the undergarment as I was told to grab the inner layer and put it on like stockings rather than just pulling on the stretchy outer layer. However, I am taking a star off because I have put my leg in between the two layers several times when donning. There is an opening next to a zipper right at the crotch - it may be useful for the guys but Whites needs to modify the opening/zipper for the gals.

This under garment is extremely warm. I find that it is too warm in anything above 50F. It is very comfortable works well under my Fusion Sport. The fit seems to be true to the sizing charts. I am 5'8" 165lb. and am using the L/XL. I probably could get away with the small (have used both S/M and L/XL Fusions) but the S/M would be a pushing it. While this is a great under garment, the price seems fairly high.
