Tech Spec
- Constructed of 1000 denier ballistic nylon for maximum tear and abrasion resistance.
- Quick-dry foam padding with an open-cell porous design allows the pad to release water and dry in a hurry.
- Two marine-grade 316 stainless steel grommets resist rust and corrosion and provide drainage.

I'm happy with this pad overall. It attaches to the straps easily and stays secure. I don't think it adds much comfort in the water if you're using thick exposure protection, but is nice if you have to do a long walk for a shore entry. If you're using a drysuit it also adds a layer of protection agains tearing your suit on a screw.

Nice product. A bit of a paint to install on my pre-rigged Dive Rite stainless steel back-plate. The rub guards on the shoulder webbing made it difficult to back the shoulder webbing far enough out to run the velco straps through. I bought it to cover the wing nuts on my back-plate since I will be running a dry suit. It also makes the back-plate more comfortable if you wear it without a wetsuit.

I dint think having a pad on my backplate would make such a difference but wow it felt nice! The best part about this pad is that it is universal and can be used on any backplate. I am using it on an Apeks plate and it fits perfectly since apeks does not make one for their plate. No having to work if the bolt holes will align. Also having the sleeve for the lift back is very convenient but i little tricky to get to while wearing the rig. i have to loosen my wait band to get to it.

GREAT backpad.
I dive a DR stainless BP, my son has a Hollis aluminum. I set him up with the Hollis backpad, which is $15 cheaper. It bolts down, but I was immediately struck by the fact that it's a backpad without any real, well...pad. It's mostly just fabric.
The DiveRite XT Backplate Pad is in a different league.
Instead of bolting down, this slips through the shoulder pads, making it universal, with a single bolt at the bottom securing it.
Unlike the other pad, this one has significant padding, adding actual relief from the backpad. I did not test accurately, but I have to imagine it would add perhaps a pound or so of buoyancy.
This was purchased to add comfort to my rig for long surface walks with equipment on, and it worked as directed.
A little expensive, but worth it for the comfort.
DRIS service was wonderful and on time.
