PADI Tec Trimix Diver Course: Explore the Outer Edge of Technical Diving

Ready to push the boundaries of deep exploration? The PADI Tec Trimix Diver course trains experienced technical divers to use helium-based breathing gases (trimix) to manage narcosis and explore depths down to a maximum of 90 meters / 300 feet. This is the pinnacle of the PADI TecRec program, opening the door to pristine, rarely visited dive sites.

Earning this certification requires dedication and mastery. The course focuses heavily on mission application, teaching you to:

  • Plan Complex Dives: Master advanced planning using decompression software and multi-gas trimix computers.
  • Select Optimal Gases: Learn considerations for choosing appropriate trimix bottom gases and multiple decompression gases (EANx and/or oxygen).
  • Manage Multiple Cylinders: Develop proficiency in handling up to four stage/decompression cylinders.
  • Utilize Decompression Models: Understand concepts like bubble models and deep stops.
  • Handle Deep Emergencies: Refine your skills for managing potential problems in challenging deep environments.

This demanding course involves knowledge development, practical application sessions, and challenging open water dives.

Prerequisites:

To enroll, you must meet all the following:

  • Be a PADI Tec 50 or PADI Tec Trimix 65 diver (or hold a qualifying certification from another organization).
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a minimum of 150 logged dives.
  • Have a current Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
  • DAN insurance (or equivalent) is required.

This course requires a full technical diving setup suitable for deep trimix diving:

  • Backmount twin cylinders OR Sidemount cylinders (with appropriate harness/wing BCD)
  • Multiple Stage/Decompression Cylinders: At least two, oxygen clean, with regulators (e.g., AL40s/40 cu ft or similar). (Note: The course covers handling up to four cylinders; confirm the exact number required with the instructor)
  • Two (2) dive computers or bottom timers (or one of each), multi-gas trimix capable
  • Exposure suit appropriate for cold water diving (drysuit highly recommended)
  • Reel and lift bag or DSMB
  • Two (2) cutting devices
  • Underwater slate or wetnotes
  • Compass
  • Two (2) dive lights
  • Backup buoyancy device (e.g., drysuit inflation, lift bag, or dual bladder wing)
  • Backup mask
  • Argon inflation system (if applicable/used)

Included: Course tuition, processing fees.

Not Included: Lodging, gas fills (including helium), required personal gear, transportation, PADI course materials (needs confirmation if materials are included or separate).
