When the sun goes down, the underwater environment transforms. Daytime creatures retreat, and a fascinating array of nocturnal life emerges. The PADI Night Diver Specialty course teaches you the techniques and procedures needed to safely explore this captivating after-dark world.

Diving at night requires a different skillset. You'll learn to focus on what your dive light reveals, manage your buoyancy by feel, and communicate effectively with your buddy in low-light conditions. During three night dives, you'll practice:

• Light Handling: Mastering the use of your primary and backup dive lights for navigation and signaling.
• Communication Techniques: Adapting your communication methods for the dark.
• Night Navigation: Entering, exiting, and navigating underwater safely after sunset.
• Observing Nocturnal Life: Identifying how aquatic plants and animals change their behavior at night.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum age: 12 years old
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification or higher
• Equipment: You'll need your basic scuba gear, plus a primary dive light and a backup light. Your instructor may also recommend additional exposure protection for staying warm after dark.

Get Credit: The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may count as an Adventure Dive towards your Advanced Open Water Diver certification, and the course counts towards your Master Scuba Diver rating! You might even get college credit – ask your instructor.
