Great light for night
Review by
Great high quality product from Light Monkey. So Simple yet well built , for good dependability and service life.
Recently took this on 9 dives (but only 1 night dive). For the night dive it penetrated the somewhat not-so-super-clear waters of Catalina island no problem, it even has a nice halo around it, tight beam so it's great for lighting up cracks/crevices/holes ect. And signaling your buddies,But as described , its a great back up. if your looking for a primary -you will want something with a wider beam. During my day dives, it's not bright enough to see unless you point it to a really dark hole-but even then it's not too bright (but that's alright Bc that's not what this light was intended for) -if you want something to light up in the day go with a light monkey with at least 1000+lumens. All in all its a awsome light, very light and strong, quality non-slip rubber coated head. Simple twist on/off operation , light monkey may be a lil pricy but DRIS always has great deal, i drank the light monkey kool-aid, and I'm loving it!

Okay light a little over priced

Been using two of these lights with a LM helmet. Brightness is great, battery life is good enough to get you out of a pinch if your primary fails. Keep orings lubed because these lights will leak.

Great light well built and bright!

Great light seems really well built. On the surface it's nice and bright as well as under water! Would recommend to but the SS clip to mount to your bc. Dive right had fast shipping and great costumer service.

Great backup lights
Review by
These lights are great. I have used them in open water in cold and dark water. They are as good as some older primary canister lights. What else can you say about Light Monkey lights. They're great lights.

Great back up light which easily attaches with a clip to your bp strap. No problems with my lights which have been going strong for 3 years now. Would recommend and buy again.

I had two of these lights. Past tense. I have since sold them. Within a week, both light head modules failed. Not sure how this happened since they were back up lights and never used except to be tested. I sent them into LM, everyone raves about their customer service and my experience was consistent with the reviews. However, after sending them in multiple times to get fixed, I stopped appreciating that LM would just replace the product with pretty much no questions asked and started getting sick of standing in a line up in the post office to send my broken lights down to them. Great customer service is something I appreciate but I'd prefer that my expensive dive equipment function properly so I am not constantly having to send it in. Oh and the reason they told me they were breaking is because the module was getting crushed from over tightening. Strange that my Princetontechs, Halcyon and Agir lights never had this issue... oh wait, they have a stopper built in so you CANNOT over tighten them. LM, nice people, great customer service but their products have some serious design flaws. Spend the extra 10-20% and buy Agir or Halcyon and save yourself the postage to send your lights in for replacement constantly.

An awesome and durable DIR backup. One piece delrin construction is bombproof and relatively lightweight for a 3 "C" cell light. Beware shipping internationally with UPS, as they tack on exorbitant "brokerage" fees that far exceed any tax or duty that could be charged.

I've long been a fan of Light Monkey products for both Primary and Backup lights. Great products and great service.

This is my preferred backup light. I wear two of them when cave diving - in addition to my primary light. This is a rugged twist on light - no switches to foul or break. It feels good in the hand - and casts a strong beam. I also like that is uses commonly available C size batteries.

This is my third purchase of such a light from DRIS. They got the order out for me the same day - and even with free shipping - it was in my hands in 3 days. Great price too! Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Probably the best backup light I have ever used. Practically indestructible. It doesn't appear as bright on land as some other lights but is a light saber underwater - ideal for signaling here in the murky PNW. I didn't get mine from DRIS (got it from the LDS when in a pinch at the start of Fundies and needed a second backup light that wasn't switch-activated) but will definitely add one or the Rat Jr. from DRIS on my next order to replace my crappy Oxycheq backup-backup light.
