Reviews
It does everything advertised and better !
I work everyday in windy oceans on speed boats and guide caves and caverns.
I use the shirt as rash in the ocean and under my 3mm full wetsuit for the caves.
It's perfect for both !
Excellent protection from the wind and sun, dries really quickly on the boats and always dry and ready for the next morning dives.
It has no effect on buoyancy and keeps you incredibly warm in the water and cool on the surface.
I would say in thickness it would be equivalent to a 2.5mm neoprene shirt. It is really comfortable and even though it is a 4 way stretch fabric, it doesn't stretch as much as lycra or neoprene, howeve it is of excellent quality and built tough to last.
Time we talk about the cons...
Do not rely on the sizing chart, I repeat, do not rely on the sizing chart !
Man, this shirt's been designed by a person very high on something, don't know what, but it's heavy stuff...
I'm a size L, always get XL for a comfort and length. I'm happy I have been warned before I got this shirt, so I ordered 3XL and you should probably do the same, go 2 or 3 sizes higher than what you normally would.
But even if you do order 2-3 sizes higher, your core and chest area will be fine but you will still feel tight around the neck, sleeves a little too long and the shirt itself is long, sitting low on your thighs. (remember the guy on heavy stuff ?)
For me though, it's not a big problem since I'm tall and heavy built, so the extra length doesn't bother me any. Plus I'm happy the shirt sits that low, I don't have half my belly sticking out most of the dive...
So is it worth it given it's flaws ? Oh yeah ! I'd buy one right now if you told me it would go extinct soon and I got it cheaper than the equivalent product from SharkSkin.
Lavacore has an excellent product with this shirt, however they should really start drug testing on the designers before the next model comes out !
