This program introduces experienced recreational divers to the specialized techniques, planning procedures, and skills that define technical diving, all within a non-threatening and engaging learning environment.

This course focuses on refining your existing abilities and introducing key technical concepts.

You'll work on:

• Advanced Buoyancy Control: Fine-tuning your position in the water.
• Gas Management: Learning principles for managing breathing gas on more demanding dives.
• Situational Awareness: Enhancing your awareness of yourself, your gear, and the environment.
• Trim Optimization: Achieving a streamlined, horizontal body position.
• Gear Configuration & Selection: Understanding technical gear setups and how to streamline your existing configuration.

The TDI Intro to Tech course is valuable even if you don't plan to pursue further technical certifications, as it significantly improves core diving skills. It also serves as an excellent introduction if you're considering the TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses, or as a great refresher for already certified technical divers.

Required Equipment:

This course requires a more technical gear configuration:

• Backmount twin cylinders OR Sidemount cylinders (with appropriate harness/wing BCD)
• AL40 (40 cu ft) cylinder, oxygen clean, with regulator (for simulated deco gas)
• Two (2) dive computers or bottom timers (or one of each)
• Exposure suit appropriate for cold water diving
• Reel and lift bag or DSMB
• Two (2) cutting devices
• Underwater slate or wetnotes
• Compass
• Two (2) dive lights
• Backup buoyancy device (e.g., drysuit inflation, lift bag, or dual bladder wing)
• Backup mask
