Ursuit Heavy Light 2.0 Drysuit: A Balance of Durability and Flexibility
The Ursuit Heavy Light 2.0 is the updated version of a classic drysuit, engineered for divers who need a suit that is both highly durable and remarkably flexible. It combines a unique lightweight trilaminate material with a host of technical features to create an exceptional diving experience.
Lightweight Durability & Advanced Construction:
This suit is crafted from a lightweight yet durable three-layer trilaminate fabric (230g/m²).
- Why it Matters: This unique material is designed to almost "escape" sharp surfaces, which helps to minimize wear and tear from friction against wrecks or rocks. The suit's construction is further enhanced with a patented double-side taped seam structure and tough Cordura® reinforcements on the knees and bottom for added longevity.
Engineered for Unrestricted Movement:
Ursuit redesigned the cut of the sleeves, armpits, and crotch seam to allow for better freedom of movement.
- Why it Matters: This works in tandem with the telescopic torso, integrated suspenders, and crotch strap to create a suit that moves with your body. The result is a more comfortable fit that feels less like restrictive dive gear and allows you to easily reach your valves and maneuver in the water.
Premium, Diver-Focused Components:
- Flexible Front Zipper: A YKK Aquaseal PU front zipper provides a lightweight, flexible, and completely watertight seal. It is shielded by a protective outer zipper cover to keep it clean and free from abrasion.
- Advanced SiTech Valves: High-quality SiTech valves are standard. This includes a swiveling inlet valve for ideal hose routing and a low-profile automatic outlet valve with an integrated filter, which makes it easy to keep clean. A neoprene pad under the inlet valve helps disperse the chill of inflation gas for better comfort.
- Warm Neck & Secure Boots: A warm neck seal overlays the standard latex neck seal for added thermal benefit and comfort. The attached 4mm neoprene boots feature heel strap retainers to lock your fin straps in place and prevent them from slipping.
- Ample Storage: Two large, bellow-style pockets are located on the thighs. Inside each, you'll find bungee loops for organizing spools, wetnotes, and other essential gear.
Each suit also includes a separate neoprene hood and a carrying/storage bag.

Reviews
Looking it over, all the materials appeared to be top grade and the job done on construction was outstanding. The large fit me just about perfectly, maybe just ever so slightly long in the inseam: I'm 5'9" with a 44" chest and a 34" waist. It is very comfortable to wear and my movement doesn't feel restricted any more than wearing a jacket.
I've been diving it a few weeks now and everything is good so far. I've stayed warm and dry in 48 degree water using the two piece Fourth Element Arctic under garments. I'm actually looking forward to my semi-ice dives. I work changing props, cutting out entanglements, etc. year round. While the water doesn't freeze solid, there is an occasional thin layer, thus "semi-ice".
It is a fairly light suit, but appears to be tough as nails. If anyone can tear one up, it'll be me. I can't even look at a wetsuit without tearing the outer covering somewhere. After a few wheel jobs, a shaft change, and several bottom cleanings, I can find no cuts, abrasions, or other signs of wear. For the average diver, this thing will probably last longer than their diving career.
The cargo pockets are a nice touch and I've found them to be useful. I just wish they had used a straps and buckles instead of velcro to keep them closed. That stuff wears out too fast if you use it a lot.
The only issue I've had with the suit, and a very minor one at that, is the wrist cuffs. They can get in the way when putting on and taking off the standard wet gloves I like to wear for increased dexterity when the water's not bitterly cold. Also, they can sometimes interfere with getting your other hand in there to stretch the wrist seal when doffing the suit. But hey, guess it's better to put up with a little inconvenience and have those expensive seals protected, rather than leaving them exposed, especially the way I use the suit.
Overall, I'm beyond happy with the suit.
I got to dive it this weekend and was very impressed. It is extremely light weight but I don't see it getting cut easily. There is no comparison to my 6 year old Bare trilam. The Bare weighs a lot more.
Another diver at the quarry had a Fourth Element suit that was EXACTLY like my Ursuit. The stitching, reinforcements, pockets, everything was the same. He about cried when I told him what I paid for mine. He paid double for his.
The only things that I didn't care for is the location of the shoulder dump. It seems to be turned a little but further out and is a bit harder to get to.
The zipper is several inches longer than my Bare and I have to pull the suit down to get both zippers started. Not a deal killer, I just don't unzip it all the way.
