This means more time underwater and shorter surface intervals!
This course teaches you everything you need to know about diving with enriched air nitrox (air with a higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content). You'll learn:
- Why Nitrox Extends Your Dive Time: Understand the science behind diving with different gas mixes.
- Managing Oxygen Exposure: Learn the procedures for safely planning and executing nitrox dives.
- Analyzing Your Tank: Practice analyzing the oxygen content in your scuba tank – a crucial skill for every nitrox dive.
- Setting Your Computer: Learn how to set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.
The course includes knowledge development, a practical session for analyzing tanks and setting computers, and two optional (or sometimes required, depending on the instructor) dives. You may even be able to get college credit for this course!
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age: 12 years old
- PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification or higher
- Equipment: Most standard scuba gear is compatible with nitrox. However, scuba tanks must meet specific oxygen service standards and be clearly marked for use with enriched air. You'll practice using oxygen analyzers during the course.
