Description
PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course: Explore Depths Down to 130 Feet!
There's a unique appeal to exploring deeper dive sites – perhaps it's a fascinating wreck resting just beyond standard recreational limits, or unique marine life and geological formations found further down a wall. The PADI Deep Diver Specialty course provides the focused training and knowledge you need to responsibly plan and execute dives down to a maximum of 40 metres/130 feet.
This course is designed to help you develop the skills and understanding necessary for deeper diving activities. Your training begins by reviewing the reasons for exploring at depth and emphasizing the critical importance of knowing and adhering to your personal limits. During four deep dives with your PADI Instructor, you’ll cover and practice:
- Specialized Deep Diving Equipment: Understanding any specific gear considerations for deeper dives.
- Deep Dive Planning: Detailed procedures for managing your gas supply, understanding no-decompression limits, and executing appropriate safety stops.
- Buddy Contact & Buoyancy at Depth: Refining your buddy contact procedures and mastering precise buoyancy control in deeper environments.
- Managing Gas Narcosis: Learning to recognize and manage the potential effects of nitrogen narcosis.
- Safety Considerations: Addressing other important safety protocols specific to operating at greater depths.
Prerequisites to Enroll:
PADI Adventure Diver rating (or a higher qualifying certification).
Minimum age of 15 years old.
Required Equipment:
You’ll use your standard scuba equipment, including a dive computer. A dive light and an underwater slate are also highly recommended for these dives. Your PADI Instructor may suggest other specific gear based on the local deep diving environments where your training dives will occur.
