Your Computer Will Fail

Sooner or later your computer will fail. I've seen it happen. Then a fun boat dive turns into 45 minutes on an empty boat watching bubbles. I lost mine Open Water kit years ago and never thought twice about it until I was on a dive with a guy whose computer failed. He was able to continue using RDP tables. I got a new one, the exact same PADI RDP, and now I log every dive with it and my computer. It's cheap dive insurance and holds up to use.

This is a good table to have and always review incase you need to use it on a dive because your computers failed. It is conservative so it is very safe.

It is always good to have backups. I use this to backup my dive computers. Padi tables are conservative and easy to follow. This table is plastic so it is very durable.

All you really need is this and a timer. Before we had dive computers, we had charts and timers. Computers are convent, but aren't always that reliable. This solves that problem.

I keep one of these in my dive bag in case my dive computer ever fails I can always go back to the basics. I was given this in my PADI class along with a dive log book. People rely on a computers but before dive computers existed divers had to use tables.

I got certified in 2003 and was given one of these. I still have it after over 10 years and it looks new. Great back up in case your dive computer is busted.

I have a PADI RDP which came with my open water class and keep it in my dive log book. Having the RDP allows me to continue to make dives as long as i have recorded my dives. Thus, I see the RDP as a computer "save a dive" and would replace mine if i ever lost it.
