Solid gear

But not what I wanted. I bought this to attached to my safety sausage. Totally the wrong gear for that. The build quality is good and works as advertised but, it's a little large and it doesn't stow well in my recreational BCD pocket. You only need 135' max of line for an SMB. Just a simple little real would have worked better for me. BUT now that I'm getting into wreck diving I'm thinking this will be more in line for what I need and the 270' should be perfect.

I have used this reel for years. It never birds-nests. I can literally hang off of it. Practically indestructible. It can be your primary reel. The ratchet keeps it from unspooling on you when you least desire it. The line is sufficient to get you out of trouble.

Good reel at a great price

This is a great first reel. Good handle with plenty of room for gloves. Spot for a bolt snap and the ratcheting design works great. The thumb lever seems to work well, too.
With a snap bolt, bungee and smb, this makes a great little kit.
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a basic recreational reel. For tech or cave diving I'd recommend something a little more heavy duty.

Great real makes dive easier

I purchased this dive reel to be the primary buoy marker for my diving. This is a fantastic piece of kit!
Managing the flag and buoy with the old wind around reel we had before made it a frustrating and lame game of dive flag hot buoy to see who was stuck with it. Not any more!
The handle and reel body are durable hard plastic and show little signs of wear after several dive on.
There is ample room in the handle eyelet to attach a snap bolt so you clip on to a D-ring while readying yourself or for flipper donning on shore entry.
The thumb lever allows for easy letting out of line as you descend, or change depth.
The ratcheting real allows for intake of the line efficiently decreases tangling and enables you to focus more on your accent instead of fumbling in line.
This reel makes the dive more fun, safer, and quite possibly could one of the best add-on / upgrades you can make to your equipment.
