SDI Deep Diver Course: Explore the Depths Safely and Confidently

Want to explore deeper dive sites, like dramatic walls, historic shipwrecks, and the unique marine life that thrives beyond recreational limits? The SDI Deep Diver Course provides the essential knowledge and skills to safely plan and execute dives between 60 and 130 feet (18-40 meters).

This course isn't just about going deeper; it's about understanding the why behind safe deep diving practices. You'll learn about:

• Deep Diving Physics and Physiology: Understand how increased pressure affects your body and your equipment.
• Specialized Equipment: Learn about the gear considerations for deep diving.
• Dive Planning: Master the skills to plan deep dives, including gas management and decompression considerations.
• Emergency Procedures: Be prepared for potential emergencies specific to deep diving.
• The Past: The history of diving, and how early equipment and tables were used.

You'll put this knowledge into practice during two open water dives, working with your instructor to monitor your depth, time, and air consumption, and practice emergency procedures. It's all about becoming a more skilled, aware, and prepared diver.

Who should take this course? Any certified open water diver who wants to expand their diving horizons and explore deeper sites safely.

Prerequisites: SDI Open Water Scuba Diver, SDI Junior Open Water Diver, or equivalent. Minimum age 18 (10 with parental consent).

What You Get: Upon successful completion, you'll be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 130 feet (40 meters), within the limits of your training and experience. This certification also counts as one specialty towards the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program.

Where We Dive: We primarily conduct our Deep Diver courses off Double Action Dive Charters out of Hammond, Indiana, but we also offer training at local dive sites like Gilboa, Mermet, Pearl Lake, and Lake Wazee.
